The Chicago Journal of International Law

Submissions for our journal are currently closed

The Chicago Journal of International Law is currently closed to submissions. We will reopen in early summer for submissions to Print Volume 27.2 and Online Volume 6.1. We plan to remain open throughout the summer and consider submissions on a rolling basis.

For Authors

CJIL seeks to publish articles making a significant, original contribution to the field of international and comparative law. We not accept articles from current law students. CJIL’s editors prefer that manuscripts be thoroughly footnoted, which means that all outside sources should be appropriately cited in Bluebook format.

This posting is for submissions to the print and online versions of the journal. Submissions to the former should be between 15,000 and 22,000 words, excluding footnotes. Submissions to the latter should be between 6,000 and 10,000 words and should include “[ONLINE]” in the manuscript title. All submissions should include the word count of the manuscript and the author’s CV.

Unfortunately, limited resources prevent the journal from accepting draft articles requiring extensive stylistic and/or substantive changes. We therefore request that articles be both well written and completely argued at the time of submission. We conduct our review of articles for both the print and online editions in the summer and winter of each year.

Please submit articles through this posting rather than by email. Thank you.
